Sumitomo SHI FW, Finland (SFW) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) have agreed into
a contract for the design, engineering, production, erection, commissioning, and sale of
circulating fluidized bed combustion (CFBC) boilers in the Indian and international markets.
According to a statement from BHEL, specific nations are not covered by the agreement.
According to the statement, “BHEL has entered into a long-term Technology License Agreement
(TLA) with Sumitomo SHI FW, Finland for the design, engineering, manufacturing, erection,
commissioning, and sale of both subcritical and supercritical CFBC boilers in India and in
overseas territories, with the exception of certain nations.
According to BHEL, CFBC boiler technology has intrinsic advantages over conventional
coal-based technologies, including greater operational flexibility at part loads and fuel flexibility
while still fulfilling pollution standards.
