Bharti Airtel to invest Rs 2,000 crore to set up hyperscale data centre

The Bharti Airtel Group declared that it will contribute Rs 2,000 crore toward the construction of a sizable hyperscale data centre in Hyderabad.

According to a press release, the announcement was made in the Telangana Lounge in Davos, Switzerland, in the presence of the Group’s founding chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, Principal Secretary for Industries Jayesh Ranjan, and Telangana Minister for IT and Industries K T Rama Rao.

According to a statement, the Bharti Airtel Group will invest the sum as capital investment for the infrastructure through its data centre subsidiary, Nxtra Data Centers, which will further entice contributions from their consumers.

The project will be a hyperscale data centre with a first phase IT load capacity of 60 megawatts (MW). The newest cooling technologies will be used.
