Bengal govt approves 14 industrial parks covering over 800 acres under SAIP scheme

West Bengal government has already given final approval for the establishment of 14 industrial parks, involving 813.43 acres of land, as a result of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s decision in September of last year to permit the establishment of industrial parks on land parcels measuring 5 acres and above and drastically lower the land ceiling from 20 acres.

The Howrah district, where 7 such industrial parks on 645.73 acres of land have received permission, is where the Scheme for Approved Industrial Parks (SAIP) initiative has flourished the most.

15 industrial parks total have received in-principle permission under this scheme, according to sources in the MSME department.

Among the parks that have been given final approval the highest land parcel is of 459.90 acres at Ranihati in Howrah where a Foundry Park is going to come up. Another large land parcel of 110 acres at Sankrail in Howrah will see the setting up of a rubber park.

The boundary wall , the land filling , the internal road and drainage infrastructure of this park of these two have already been completed. The fire fighting mechanism and the internal power infrastructure has also been done.
