BEML, Alstom, Titagarh Wagons and CAF in race to supply 318 Metro Cars for Bengaluru Metro Phase II

For phase II of the Bengaluru Metro project, 318 new metro coaches must be provided. Four companies are competing for the contract: Titagarh Wagons, BEML, CAF, and Alstom Transport India.

The coaches are for the Pink Line (KalenaAgrahara-Nagawara) and Outer Ring Road-Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) Metro routes.

In September 2022, BMRCL released a tender for this undertaking.

The project’s scope of work involves developing, producing, supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning 318 standard gauge metro cars as well as providing up to fifteen years of employee training.

The Pink Line will employ 16 six-car train sets (96 coaches), the outer ring road (from Central Silk Board to KR Puram) will use 16 six-car train sets (96 coaches), and the airport will use 21 six-car train sets (126 cars).
