BCPL to invest Rs 450 crore for Naphtha storage at Haldia

Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymers Ltd (BCPL), a public sector organisation based in Assam, has suggested spending Rs 450 crore in the Haldia port area of West Bengal for a naphtha import storage and dispatch facility. BCPL is carrying out the renowned Assam Gas Cracker project, the largest petrochemical plant in the northeast.

The corporation has given Kolkata Port, now known as Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, the feasibility report for the project.

Kolkata Port Chairman Vinit Kumar states, “Hooghly Oil and Gas Terminal Private Limited was given a concession worth ₹250 crore for the construction of a liquid cargo handling jetty and associated facilities at Shalukkhali, Haldia Dock-II on a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer (DBFOT) basis for a thirty year concession period.SMP Kolkata has three ongoing projects for ₹750 crore, and several projects worth ₹2,500 crore will be completed in the next three to four years”.
