YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the Amul Chittoor Dairy in Chittoor.
With the help of this project, the Chittoor Cooperative Dairy, which had been dormant for the previous 20 years, has been brought back to life.
Amul, a company located in Gujarat, has committed to investing Rs 385 crore to build the biggest ice cream factory and gradually develop different dairy products.
The initial phase will involve an investment of Rs 150 crore, and within the next ten months, the unit will be able to process 1 lakh litre of milk. Over the course of the next five years, additional manufacturing units for butter, milk powder, paneer, yoghurt, and sweets will be set up.
Addressing a public meeting, the Chief Minister stated that this project will create around 5,000 direct job opportunities and generate indirect employment for approximately two lakh individuals through Amul’s outlets and distribution channels.
