Alstom bags Rs 2,600 crorecontract

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has awarded Alstom a contract of Rs 2,600 crore to design, produce, supply, test, and commission 312 standard-gauge metro cars for the Delhi Metro Phase IV extension. For this order, Alstom will provide its Metropolis trainsets.

Olivier Loison, Managing Director, Alstom India Cluster, said, “Our trains have a high recyclability of all materials and a low-weight design to reduce energy consumption that will greatly contribute to minimising environmental impact in the region.”

The current Delhi Metro network spans 391 kilometres and has 286 stations. The network has now expanded beyond of Delhi’s borders to Gurgaon, Faridabad, Bahadurgarh, and Ballabhgarh in Haryana as well as Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
