Engineering consulting firm Aarvee Associates has won the contract to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) for the Madurai Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) in Tamil Nadu. The project is expected to ease traffic congestion and provide better connectivity in the region.
According to sources, Aarvee Associates was selected by the Madurai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) through a competitive bidding process. The firm will be responsible for preparing the DPR, which will include the technical specifications, cost estimates, and other details of the project.
The Madurai MRTS will be a 23-kilometer elevated corridor with 21 stations, connecting various parts of the city. The estimated cost of the project is INR 6,000 crore, and it is expected to be completed in four years.
The project is part of the Tamil Nadu government’s plan to improve urban transport infrastructure in the state. The government has also proposed other metro rail projects in cities such as Coimbatore, Salem, and Tiruchirappalli.
Aarvee Associates has previously worked on several metro rail projects in India, including the Hyderabad Metro Rail, Chennai Metro Rail, and the Kochi Metro Rail. The firm has expertise in project management, engineering, and construction supervision.
