Airports Authority of India announced that it is investing Rs 381 crore in a significant upgrade project at its Tuticorin airport in Tamil Nadu to accommodate growing passenger traffic.
According to AAI, the upgrade work will widen and extend the runway to allow for the operation of A-321-type aircraft as well as build a new terminal building, apron, and ATC tower-cum-technical block-cum-control tower.
The new terminal structure, which is 13,500 square metres in size and can accommodate 600 passengers during peak hours, will also have car parking spaces, a new approach road, two aerobridges, and all other modern passenger amenities.
