Airport Authority of India (AAI) officials stated that they would be able to begin operations from the airport within 15 days of it being turned over to them, with the state civil aviation department giving the PWD department a deadline of March 31 for completion of the Halwara Airport terminal building.
AAI officials expressed the expectation that airlines would be willing to begin flights from Halwara Airport if the airport had better infrastructure, particularly a larger runway.
After the terminal building was turned over to AAI, airport director Shubhendu Krishan Sharan stated that they would be able to begin operations in less than 15 days. He continued by saying that they would be able to approach airlines about beginning flights before the airport terminal was complete.
