TheAirports Authority of India (AAI) has issued a tender for the development of a new terminal building at Coimbatore International Airport dedicated solely to domestic departures.
The facility, which has been long delayed, would cost Rs 100.36 crore to build. While the building would cost 82.65 crore, the operation and upkeep will cost 17.70 crore.
The new 9,559-square-meter structure will be able to seat 600 extra people. The terminal building can now accommodate 1,200 domestic and 600 international passengers.
According to a civil aviation official, the work order would most likely be issued in June. “The project will take 600 days to complete, including 120 wet days.”
