Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Union Minister for Civil Aviation, stated in the Lok Sabha that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and other airport developers have set a capital outlay target of 91,000 crore in the sector over the next five years.
The funds will be used to expand and modify current terminals, as well as to build new terminals and strengthen runways, among other things.
The Government of India has given ‘in-principle’ clearance for the construction of 21 greenfield airports across the country under the Greenfield Airports Policy, 2008.
