Ola Electric unveils lithion-ion-cell

Ola Electric revealed the NMC 2170 lithium-ion cell. The firm plans to start mass producing the cell from its future Gigafactory by 2023.

NMC is used on the cathode side of the cutting-edge High Nickel Cylindrical Ola Cell and silicon and graphite are used on the anode side.

The cell can store more energy in a given volume because to the use of certain chemistry and materials, which also extends the cell’s lifespan. The cell was created with the local environment at its centre.

“A cell is the heart of the EV revolution. Ola is building the world’s most advanced cell research center that will enable us to scale and innovate faster, and build the most advanced and affordable EV products in the world with speed,” Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder and CEO, Ola Electric, said in a statement.

“Our first indigenously made Li-ion cell is also the first of many in our cell technology roadmap. Having a robust local EV ecosystem is important for India to become a global EV hub,” Aggarwal added.
