At the Dahej Complex, Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) had planned to develop a 39,600 MTPA chlorotoluenes plant.
Instead of producing these items in-house, the corporation continued to outsource their production, delaying the project’s completion.
The corporation has reexamined the issue and chosen to establish its own 30,000 TPA chlorotoluenes factory in Dahej as a long-term strategic goal and to decrease in-house chlorine consumption.
The company’s board of directors has authorised a 350 crore chlorotoluenes project in Dahej with a capacity of 30,000 TPA.
When completed within twenty-four months of the start of engineering, this project will assist the company in consistently meeting the needs of its clients for these items while also generating an expected annual income of ₹300 crore at current market pricing.
