Burhanpur-Khandwa textile cluster to include new plants

The textile cluster in the Burhanpur-Khandwa area of Madhya Pradesh, central India, will soon include plants for fabric processing, dyeing, printing and finishing, and yarn resizing.

The handloom-producing region is part of MP’s cotton-growing region. The projected textile cluster’s first phase is expected to be operational in around a year and a half.

Last Monday, the state cabinet of Madhya Pradesh approved the request of the Burhanpur Sukhpuri Textile Cluster Association to establish a new textile cluster in Burhanpur’s industrial sector.

250 businesses have agreed to the concept, and 30 businesses have already paid a deposit to the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for 10 lakh square feet in the cluster.

The textile cluster is expected to be built over 60 hectares and is likely to attract investment of ₹350-400 crore.
