Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) will establish a rail wheelset manufacturing company at Raigarh in conjunction with GIFLO Steel, a Hungarian steel major.
The initial capacity of the wheel factory will be 25,000 wheel sets per year.
Rail forging units for asymmetric rails, which are utilised in rail track switches and especially for high-speed train lines, are also being installed by JSPL.
JSPL, on the other hand, did not indicate how much money it would put into the project or when the wheels would start rolling out of the factory.
“We are committed to Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan launched by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rail wheelset manufacturing plant will help Indian Railways to speed up the modernisation of its rail infrastructure by making available world-class rail wheels to realise the vision of Gati Shakti,” JSPL managing director V.R. Sharma said.
