After Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Co Ltd. (MPMRCL) launched financial bids, Alstom Transport India emerged as the lowest bidder to supply 156 coaches, signalling & train control, and telecommunication system for Indore and Bhopal Metro’s Phase 1.
27 of these trains (81 coaches) will be stabled at the Subhash Nagar Depot in Bhopal, which will serve as the common carshed for Phase 1’s routes. 14 will service the 14.99 km Purple Line (Karond Circle – AIIMS) now under construction, while 13 will serve the planned 12.88 km Red Line (Bhadbhada Square – Ratnagiri Tiraha).
The Gandhi Nagar Depot in Indore Metro will house 25 trains (75 coaches) to handle the 33.53 km Yellow Line, which would link Palasia – Railway Station – Rajwara – Airport – Bhawarsala.
