Ethanol producers to invest big in Bihar

According to Sandeep Poundrik, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries, Government of Bihar, ethanol producers aim to invest over 3,000 crore to build up seventeen production plants across the state.

“All seventeen manufacturing units in Bihar will create ethanol from maize and deliver it to oil marketing corporations for mixing into gasoline and diesel,” Poundrik said.

Muzaffarpur, Bhojpur, Nalanda, Purnea, Arrah, Buxar, Madhubani, Begusarai, Gopalganj, East Champaran, and Bhagalpur would be among the seventeen ethanol producing plants distributed across Bihar.

In Arrah, an ethanol plant with a capacity of 5,00,000 litres per day is being built and is ready for commercial production. Sona Sati Organics Pvt Ltd is developing a 125 kilo litres per day maize-based ethanol plant in Sidhwalia, while Bharat Sugar Mills is planning an ethanol plant in Sidhwalia.
