Nexcharge starts mass production of lithium-ion battery packs

Nexcharge, a joint venture between Exide Industries Limited in India and Leclanché SA in Switzerland, has opened a new production unit in Prantij, Gujarat.

The company’s new state-of-the-art, fully automated manufacturing facility, which is said to be the largest in India for the production of lithium-ion battery packs and modules, spans 6,10,098 square feet.

The corporation states that it has invested more than Rs 250 crore in this manufacturing plant. With a 1.5 GWh installed capacity, the facility features six fully automated manufacturing lines and testing facilities.

It will service energy storage systems for India’s electric car industry and grid-based applications, as well as a diversified spectrum of transportation and utility-related businesses.
