Trichy is a historic city in Tamil Nadu that sits on the banks of the Kaveri River. Sri Rangam Island, the ancient Hindu pilgrimage site known for Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, is located in the midst of the River Kaveri on the outskirts of Trichy.
The new terminal building, which is being built at a cost of Rs 951 crore and will have a floor space of 75,000 sq m, is meant to handle 2,900 people during peak hours.
