The Syama Prasad Mookerjee (SPM) port – previously Kolkata port — will undergo a significant facelift in the next two years, with a plethora of projects planned, including increasing port capacity, modernising infrastructure, and monetising assets.
The Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority (SPMPA) will have to pay around 1,700 crore for these.
In the previous two years, 700 crore worth of projects have been completed. According to the Port Authority’s chairman, Vinit Kumar, the port is working hard to accelerate project deadlines in order to reduce overall logistics costs and promote commerce.
