HeidelbergCement India installs 5.5 megawatt solar power plant

In its mining sector in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, HeidelbergCement India Limited has installed a 5.5 megawatt (MW) solar power plant. Damoh’s mining activities and clinker factory have now been supplied with power. The solar project is planned to create around 10 Gigawatt hours of solar energy per year, which will be used to replace power acquired through short-term open access and grid.

Solar energy generation is estimated to save 225,000 tonnes of CO2 throughout the plant’s typical life. The Solar Plant’s commissioning is yet another step toward lowering CO2 emissions.

On this occasion, Jamshed N Cooper, Managing Director shared that “HeidelbergCement India Limited reaffirms its commitment to increase its share of green energy and spearhead in its sustainability initiatives”.
