Officials stated that the Maharashtra State Power Generation Co (MAHAGENCO) and the National Thermal Power Corporation will create a joint venture to build a “ultra-mega solar park” in the state that will generate 2,500 MW of green power.
The state Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, accepted the Rs 1,727-crore project plan, which would begin in 2020.
According to the proposals, the NTPC or its subsidiary, as well as the MAHAGENCO joint venture, will each spend 50% in the development of the ultra-mega solar power park, with the Energy Department serving as the state nodal agency.
