The 225 MW Solar facility at Vijayanagar, Karnataka, has begun operations by JSW Renewable Energy (Vijayanagar) Limited, a subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited. This project is part of the Group Captive scheme’s previously announced 958 MW Solar and Wind Projects agreed (25-year PPA) with JSW Steel.
Despite significant challenges such as Covid-19-related interruptions, higher material prices, and global supply chain breakdowns, this solar project went live in less than 12 months.
Aside from that, the company is building 2.25 GW of greenfield renewable energy capacity in order to achieve 10 GW by FY25 and 20 GW by FY30, all of which will be powered solely by renewables.
