Ircon International said that it had a breakthrough blast in Tunnel No. 77D, which is 2.65 kilometres long and located in the Ramban District’s Village Bankoot. Previously, on February 15, 2022, the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramula Rail Link (USBRL) Project completed the excavation of the longest tunnel T49, which is 12.76 kilometres long.
On January 18, 2022, IRCON completed an 11-kilometer excavation of T15’s Main Tunnel.
Tunnel T77D’s construction was difficult due to limited overburden, poor geology, and social obstacles, as the tunnel runs through a residential neighbourhood. The 15-kilometer Block stretch from Banihal to Arpinchala is now open for future construction, thanks to the completion of Tunnel T77D.
