The Cochin International Airport Ltd (Cial) will commission a 12MW solar power facility at Ettukudukka near Payyanur in Kannur on March 6 to promote its green energy initiatives.
It will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at a ceremony to be held at the Ettukudukka solar facility. With the completion of the Payyanur project, Cial’s total installed capacity of solar plants will increase to 50 MW.
Cial stated that the initiative would assist the company in taking a step ahead from its current status as a power neutral airport to one that is power positive.
Cial’s other solar energy initiatives include seven plants on the airport’s grounds and a solar carport.
