Ram Chandra Prasad Singh, Union Minister of Steel, paid a visit to the
Blast Furnace Unit to lay the foundation stone for the Kudremukh Iron
Ore Co.Ltd (KIOCL) Coke Oven Plant at Panambur Mangalore.
The proposed project involves the construction of a 2.0 LTPA Ductile
Iron Spun Pipe Plant under forward integration and a 1.80 LTPA Coke
Oven Plant under backward integration at the Blast Furnace Unit at a
cost of Rs 836.90 crores, with a completion time of 24 months from the
date of order placement with the main technological package supplier.
T Saminathan, KIOCL’s CMD, claimed that with the proper patronage and
backing from the Steel Ministry, this Mini Ratna CPSU is all set to
reclaim its former glory by showcasing its core strength in the mining
and pelletization industries.
