The Shivamogga airport, according to MP B Y Raghavendra, will be completed by the end of the year.
In a press conference, he stated that the runway would be finished by May or June, the terminal by July, and that the test flights would begin in December.
The MP recently visited with Jyotiraditya Scindia, the minister of civil aviation, and urged improved airport connectivity.
“The proposed airport at Shivamogga will have the second-largest runway in Karnataka, after the Bengaluru airport. As it is in the middle of Karnataka, it will help to boost trade and commerce in districts with less connectivity. I have requested Scindia to expedite the tender process for the Mumbai-Shivamogga-Mumbai, Mumbai-Shivamogga-Mangaluru, Mumbai-Shivamogga-Chennai, Mumbai-Shivamogga-Tirupati, Shivamogga-Kalaburagi-Hyderabad, Shivamogga-Kalaburagi-Delhi, Bengaluru-Shivamogga-Belagavi, Bengaluru-Shivamogga-Delhi, Kochi-Shivamogga-Delhi, Bengaluru-Shivamogga-Goa and Hyderabad-Shivamogga-Kochi routes,” the MP told the media.
