German luxury manufacturer Audi is examining the possibility of producing electric vehicles locally in India while aiming to attain threshold quantities for such a move to be profitable.
With the company’s decision to go all-electric internationally by 2033, it’s just a matter of time before local production of its electric cars begins, which has gotten a positive response in India thus far.
“It’s a continuous evaluation at this point in time…We are evaluating the acceptability of electric mobility in India,” Audi India Head Balbir Singh Dhillon said.
He further said, “But you have to also understand (that) we have, as Audi India or Audi AG, already decided that by 2033 we will become an all-electric car company. So, it’s a matter of time. It’s a question of when, not if that whether we will do it.”
