Senior leaders from various political parties in Maharashtra will meet with civil aviation minister JyotiradityaScindia and ministry of defence officials to discuss the extension of the Lohegaon airport.
The conference, according to ChandrakantPatil, the state BJP unit president, will primarily focus on the correct expansion of the Lohegaon plant.
He added that the proposed new airport project in Purandartaluka, as well as the reasons for the cancellation of the NOC for its new location, would be discussed.
“We shall ask the civil aviation minister to provide support, including help in the runway extension plan. The new airport will take at least 10 years to be completed. The BJP-led government had finalised a site. It is clear the present government had certain interests and hence, decided to shift the project,” Patil said.
