Nagpur Municipal Corporation to Produce Bio-CNG

Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) would manufacture bio-CNG and green hydrogen from 1,050 metric tonne (MT) rubbish, according to Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, without incurring any capital or operating and maintenance costs.

He also stated that the civic body’s 200-bed Pediatric Covid Hospital, which is being built at the RTMNU building on Ambazari Road, will open on January 15.

He said, “A company from the Netherlands met Union minister Nitin Gadkari and proposed to develop a bio-CNG plant. NMC will supply 1,000 MT wet and dry garbage to the company every day. The company will purchase 25 acres of land, establish a plant, and operate and maintain it. The company has also assured to share some revenue with NMC.” He informed the company of plans to sell bio CNG in the central pool.
