The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has begun a development programme that would cost over 25,000 crores over the next five years in order to resurrect the country’s aviation sector, which has been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The amount of 25,000 crore will be used for the expansion and modification of existing terminals, new terminals, the expansion or strengthening of existing runways, aprons, Airport Navigation Services (ANS), control towers, technical blocks, and other projects, according to the Civil Aviation Ministry. In addition, three Public-Private Partnership (PPP) airports in Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru have announced massive development plans worth 30,000 crores by 2025 as part of their revitalization efforts.
