According to its co-chief executive officer, Amneal Pharmaceuticals, a New Jersey-based drugmaker founded by NRI brothers Chirag and Chintu Patel, would build a greenfield biologics manufacturing factory in Ahmedabad that will deliver goods globally.
The NYSE-listed, $2-billion-in-sales drugmaker, which is foraying into India’s domestic formulations industry with a focus on biologics, complicated injectables, and speciality pharmaceuticals, will create novel small molecules and biologic therapies in the nation, according to Chirag Patel.
Amneal has spent $350 million on capital expenditures in India throughout the years. Active pharmaceutical ingredients, oral solids, and injectables are all produced at the company’s eight manufacturing facilities across the country. Patel stated that the company’s first critical care product will be available in India in the first quarter of 2022.
