Coromandel International to start Rs 400 cr sulphuric acid plant at Vizag

Coromandel International, an agri-solutions company owned by the Murugappa group, would build a 1,650-tonne-per-day sulphuric acid plant in Visakhapatnam. The plant, which will cost Rs 400 crore to build, will be located near the fertiliser complex in Coromandel.

Coromandel International Executive Vice-Chairman Arun Alagappan said,’India is a net importer of sulphuric acid, and the third largest importer globally, accounting for close to 20 lakh tonnes of imports.’

“This investment will improve the self-sufficiency and availability of phosphatic fertiliser in the country,” he added.
