The doubling of the Guwahati-Lumding section’s Digaru-Hojai stretch is expected to be completed in FY22.
The completion of the 102-kilometer Digaru-Hojai segment will double-track the railway route in the region, allowing more freight trains to pass through.
The Northeast Frontier Railway is working to double the length of the Digaru-Hojai stretch. States like Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, and Nagaland would be connected with more freight trains after this project is completed.
Freight rail traffic in the region will promote economic activity and help the region’s economic growth accelerate.
