Jharkhand and Odisha to soon have grid connected solar projects

Tata Steel and Tata Power have teamed up to create grid-connected solar power facilities nn Jharkhand and Odisha. Tata Steel said in a statement on Friday that the two firms had inked a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the construction of a 41MW solar project.

Rooftop, floating, and ground-mounted solar panels will be used in the project. The power plant will generate 1,40,93,61,488 kWh of electricity over its 25-year lifespan, reducing CO2 emissions by 45,210 tonnes yearly, according to the steel giant.

Tata Steel CEO and managing director T V Narendra said,”In the recent past, projects on power generation from solar and non-conventional energy sources have gained momentum across our operating locations. We will continue with our pursuit of clean energy solutions and expand our renewable energy footprint.”
