Commercial operations commence at Monopole-1 Of Pugalur-Trichur HVDC Link

In a significant development, Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) reported that Monopole-1 of the bipolar 320kV Pugalur-Trichur HVDC connection, which is an extended component of the 800kV HVDC Raigarh-Pugalur HVDC link, has begun commercial operations (effective June 8, 2021).

The Monopole-1 of the 320kV bipolar HVDC connection connecting the Pugalur HVDC station in Tamil Nadu and the North Trichur HVDC station in Kerala began commercial operations on June 8, 2021, according to PGCIL.

This pole will be capable of transferring 1,000 megawatts. The overall transmission capacity of the 320kV bipolar Pugalur-Trichur VSC-based HVDC system is 2,000 mw.
