ChPT in talks with RVNL about becoming a partner in SPV for multimodal logistics park

The Chennai Port Trust (ChPT) is in discussions with Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL), a public sector company under the Ministry of Railways, to engage in the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for executing the 1,045-crore multi-modal logistics park (MMLP) at Mappedu in Tiruvallur near Chennai.

The MMLP is one of the first projects to be selected for implementation under the Centre’s big programme, Bharatmala Pariyojna.

According to Sunil Paliwal, Chairman & Managing Director of Kamarajar Port Trust, who also serves as Chairman of ChPT, 35 similar MMLPs are planned across India under this initiative to improve logistics efficiency and decrease costs.
