A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of 5,220 MW of renewable energy projects in the state was signed by the Maharashtra government on Wednesday with Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVN) and Mahatma Phule Agricultural University, Mahaurja.
An official stated that the MoU, which was signed at the Sahyadri Guest House during the 105th Meeting of the Governing Body of the Maharashtra State Energy Development Agency (Mahaurja), will result in an investment of Rs 41,000 crore and the creation of approximately 6,760 jobs.
Fadnavis, who also oversees the energy portfolio, gave the necessary authorities instructions to expedite the work on the state’s ongoing solar power projects.
In order to meet the growing demand for electricity in the state and to provide abundant electricity to farmers, the state government has formulated a policy to implement solar power projects,an official said.
