Anurag Jain, the recently recruited secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Ministry, recently indicated that the completion of the Delhi-Mumbai Motorway is anticipated by December 2024.
The 1,386-km-long Delhi-Mumbai Motorway, which is being built at an estimated cost of more than Rs 1 lakh crore, was announced during a review meeting on 8 June, in Indore. It would be the longest motorway in India and one of the fastest to be built anywhere in the world.
Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra are all traversed by the motorway.
When the motorway is finished, it will shorten the distance between Delhi and Mumbai by 180 kilometres (from 1,424 to 1,242 km), cutting travel time from the current 24 hours to 12.
Vehicles would be able to run at a speed of 120 kmph on the road, Jain added.
