National Highway to get improved connectivity and industrial activity: Details inside

It is being planned to enlarge National Highway 208 in Tripura’s 135 km Khowai-Teliamura-Harina section into two lanes with a paved shoulder.

The PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP) 49th Network Planning Group (NPG) meeting recommended the roads project in Tripura.

The NPG meeting was conducted in Delhi and was presided over by Special Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Sumita Dawra.

A multimodal connectivity approach, access to industrial clusters and a new Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Paschim Jalefa, efficient freight movement, a reduced carbon footprint, optimum alignment, and logistical efficiency are all planned for in the Rs 2,486 crore brownfield project.

The road passes through Khowai, Gomati and South Tripura districts connecting places like Khowai, Teliamura, Twidu, Amarpur, Karbook and Harina.
