Medical service corporation in hunt ofland for setting up warehouse in Kozhikode

It is difficult for the medical service corporation to secure land in Kozhikode to build a warehouse to store pharmaceuticals.

Despite having received Rs 5 crore for the project in 2012, the corporation was obliged to rent a private godown at Naduvannur that presently serves as a temporary warehouse due to the lack of land.

According to reports, the firm pays a sizable monthly rent of Rs 6 lakhs for the facilities.

It should be mentioned that Kottayam and Alappuzha’s warehouse building is virtually finished. The Government Dermatology Hospital, Chevayur’s 1 1/2 acres of land were chosen earlier to house the corporation’s Kozhikode warehouse.

A letter was sent to the health department director in 2015 over the demand.

The discussions for setting up a warehouse in Chevayur has been ongoing ever since the corporation’s inception in 2008.

However the proceedings regarding the takeover have been snail paced, delaying it forever. The delay in retrieving the land from the sports departmentis being cited as the major reason.

In recent developments, the medical service corporation has requested the government to allot land in the Medical College campus for setting up its warehouse.
