Two private medical colleges have been authorised to open in Kalol, Gandhinagar, by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
There will be more than 6,400 medical seats available in the state thanks to the 150 seats each that are anticipated for these two universities. Gujarat University will be a partner institution for both colleges.
The state is upgrading its healthcare infrastructure. Gujarat Health Minister Rusikesh Patel had said recently that by the end of this year, a total of 43 medical colleges will be operational in the state, through which the state will get 7,000 new doctors every year.
While answering a question on the establishment of new medical colleges, in March 2023, union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that out of 58 new medical colleges to be established in the first phase, five will be established in Gujarat in Narmada, Navsari, Panchmahal, Porbandar and Morbi districts.
