UltraTech Cement Limited, the Aditya Birla Group’s cement flagship firm, has announced the commissioning of 1.2 million tonne per year (MTPA) cement capacity in October 2021.
This is the first phase of the company’s 19.5 MTPA capacity increase, which was announced in December 2020. Patliputra Cement Works in Bihar and Dankuni Cement Works in West Bengal were the two places where capacity of 0.6 MTPA was increased. The capacity of both units has now been increased to 2.5 MTPA and 2.2 MTPA, respectively, as a result of the expansion.
The new capacity will assist the Company in meeting the rapidly expanding cement demand in the Eastern markets, as well as boosting its blended cement ratio. The entire cement manufacturing capacity of the Company in India has now grown to 112.55 MTPA.
