Himachal Pradesh’s tribal regions are prepared to break new ground in the solar energy industry and aid in the state’s transition to green energy.
In the Pangi subdivision of the Chamba district, property has been granted to Himurja, the state-run nodal agency for renewable energy, for the construction of two solar power installations of 400 KW each.
At Hillaur and Dharwas in the Pangi Valley, Himurja has chosen one acre of land for each solar power project, and the organisation has started additional activity to finish the projects, which would cost about 10 crore.
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister, has given Himurja the go-ahead to finish building both solar power plants as soon as possible.
The chief minister said that apart from this, the government has made a provision in the budget for the year 2023-24 to set up a solar power-based battery energy storage system project in Pangi to strengthen its power supply system.
