Foxconn likely to increase size of its iPhone manufacturing facility in Chennai

Apple’s contract manufacturer Foxconn intends to increase the size of its Indian manufacturing facility. In order to accomplish this, Foxconn may erect two additional structures at its location close to Chennai, according to people familiar with the plan.

Foxconn is also aiming to build a research and development facility in Whitefield, Bengaluru. These developments show how quickly the corporation is expanding its capacity in India.

When Apple CEO Tim Cook is in the nation to open Apple’s first retail outlets, there is a push to increase manufacturing capacity. Cook opened a location in Mumbai on April 18. On April 20, he is slated to open the Apple store in Delhi’s Select City Walk complex in Saket.

Apple’s interest in India signals its growth ambitions in the world’s second-largest smartphone market. In March, Foxconn chairman Young Liu visited for the second time in less than a year. He made commitments to drive further investments in the country, the report said.
