Borivali-Thane twin tunnel work to commence before monsoon

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has taken the necessary steps to carry out this crucial project that will significantly reduce the amount of time it takes to travel between the two locations, and work on the Borivali-Thane twin tunnel will start before the start of the monsoon season.

Due to the project’s implementation delay, the cost has increased by a few thousand crore.

Presently, it takes longer than an hour to go 24 km from Magathane (Borivali) to Tikuji-Ni-Wadi (Thane). After this 11.84km road project under the Sanjay Gandhi National Park is completed, the trip will only take around 15 minutes.

On both ends (Thane and Borivali combined), this proposed project will feature 10.8 kilometres of twin tunnels plus an additional kilometre of approach roads. In total, a tunnel and 23.68km of new road work will be completed in the upcoming
