The Shimla-Mataur national highway, popularly known as NH-88, will soon feature four lanes on its most dangerous section from Shalghat near Shimla to Nauni Chowk (Bilaspur), which is anticipated to begin in February 2019.

After this four-lane project is finished, travel between Shimla and the lower Himachal districts of Solan, Mandi, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Chamba, Kangra, and Una will be safer and quicker.

This month, a thorough project report is probably going to be finished, and the work will probably be awarded by the end of August.

In principle, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved the road project from Shimla to Mataur, which will have four lanes and cost Rs 10,000 crore.
