Construction of the runway for the Dholera International Airport Project has begun approximately nine months after approval from the Union cabinet committee.
This new greenfield airport will be Ahmedabad’s second international airport, located 103 kilometres away.
A joint venture company named Dholera International Airport Company Limited (DIACL) has been formed to oversee the project, with equity held in a 51:33:16 ratio by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Government of Gujarat (GoG), and the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT).
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1,305 crore, and it is expected to be completed within four years.
