An agreement for the Green National Highway Corridors Project has been reached between the Indian government and the World Bank, with loan assistance of $500 million against a total project cost of $1,288.24 million (Rs 7,662.47 crore).
In the states of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh, a total of 781 kilometres will be built.
The Rajya Sabha was informed that the goal of the green highway corridor is to demonstrate safe and environmentally friendly highways while implementing provisions for resource conservation using cement treated sub base/reclaimed asphalt pavement.
